Angle at Rear Universal Joint

^ Tool Required:
- J 23498-A Driveshaft Inclinometer

Measure
1. Raise and suitably support vehicle. Rear axle should be supported at curb height and the wheels are free to spin.
2. Place transmission range selector lever in "NEUTRAL" position.
3. Rotate the propeller shaft until the rear universal joint bearing cap that is pressed into the propeller shaft is facing straight up and down. Bearing cap must be free of dirt or other foreign material to obtain an accurate measurement.





4. Place J 23498-A on the rear universal joint bearing cap. Center the bubble in the sight glass and record the measurement.





5. Rotate the propeller shaft 90° and place J 23498-A on differential drive pinion yoke bearing cap. Center bubble in sight glass and record measurement.
6. Subtract the smaller number from the larger number to obtain the universal joint angle.
