Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI)

The Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) system prevents the driver from shifting out of "PARK" without simultaneously pressing the brake pedal. When energized, the BTSI solenoid locks the automatic transmission control lever. When pressure is applied to the brake pedal, the BTSI solenoid is de-energized and releases the automatic transmission control lever.
