Starter Heat Shield: Service and Repair

Starter Shield:

CAUTION: Refer to "Service Precautions".

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
3. Starter shield bolts/screws (17 and 20) and nut (19) attaching shield (18) to engine.
4. Starter shield (18) from engine.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
NOTICE: Refer to "Service Precautions".
1. Starter shield (18) to engine.
2. Starter shield bolts/screws (17 and 20) and nut (19) attaching shield (18) to engine.
Tighten
^ Starter shield bolt/screw (17) to 30 N.m (22 lb. ft.).
^ Starter shield bolt/screw (20) to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).
^ Starter shield nut (19) to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Negative battery cable.
Tighten
^ Negative battery cable to 15 N.m (11 lb. ft.).
