Drive Belt Tensioner: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Drain the engine coolant. See Cooling System.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Remove the transmission oil dipstick from the filler tube, if necessary.
4. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid from the generator bracket.
5. Remove the generator. See Starting and Charging.
6. Remove the heater hoses from the drive belt tensioner. See Cooling System.
7. Remove the drive belt tensioner bolts.
CAUTION: The drive belt tensioner must be rotated if it is difficult to remove. Pulling the tensioner from top may damage the engine front cover. If necessary, break the plastic heater water bypass inlet pipe to allow rotation of the drive belt tensioner and replace the pipe during installation.
8. Remove the drive belt tensioner.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the drive belt tensioner.
2. Install the drive belt tensioner bolts. Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
3. Install the heater hoses to the drive belt tensioner.
4. Install the generator. See Starting and Charging.
5. Install the EVAP purge solenoid to the generator bracket.
6. Install the transmission oil dipstick to the filler tube, if necessary.
7. Install the drive belt.
8. Refill the engine coolant. See Cooling System.
