Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair
Tools Required, or equivalent:^ J38197 Crankshaft Balancer Puller
^ J37096 Flywheel Holding Tool
^ J36660 Torque Angle Meter
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the starter motor. See Starting and Charging.
5. Remove the transmission braces.
6. Remove the transmission cover pan.
7. Use the Flywheel Holding Tool in order to hold the flywheel.
CAUTION: The crankshaft balancer is serviced as an assembly. Do not attempt to separate the pulley from the balancer hub.
8. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.
9. Remove the crankshaft balancer using Crankshaft Balancer Puller. Use 1/4 inch bolts in order to attach to the pulley and screw in 1/4 inch.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the crankshaft balancer.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt. Tighten the balancer bolt to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.). Use the Torque Angle Meter in order to rotate the bolt an additional 76 degrees.
3. Install the transmission cover pan.
4. Install the transmission braces.
5. Install the starter motor. See Starting and Charging.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the drive belt.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
