Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair
WARNING: Keep hands, tools, and clothing away from electric engine coolant fans to help prevent personal injury. These fans are electric and can come on whether or not the engine is running. The fans can start automatically in response to a heat sensor with the ignition in the "ON" position.REMOVAL
1. Air intake duct and air cleaner.
2. Coolant fan electrical connectors and rosebud clips from shroud.
3. Radiator upper mounting panel.
4. Electric engine coolant fan (19). Electric engine coolant fan (19) will slide off of radiator (18).
5. Fan blade nut.
6. Fan blade. Inspect
^ For bent or cracked fan blades.
^ Mating surfaces for smoothness. Remove burrs or other imperfections as necessary.
CAUTION: It is essential that the fan blade remain in proper balance. Balance cannot be assured once a fan blade has been bent or damaged. A fan blade that is not in proper balance could fail and fly apart during subsequent use, creating an extremely dangerous condition.
INSTALLATION
1. Fan blade.
2. Fan blade nut.
3. Electric engine coolant fan (19). Electric engine coolant fan (19) will slide into place.
4. Radiator upper mounting panel. Tighten radiator upper panel mounting bolts/screws to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
5. Electrical connector and clips.
6. Air cleaner and air intake duct.
