PCM operates a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) solenoid to control EGR valve. This is a normally open solenoid. During normal operation, PCM compares desired MAF signal with the measured MAF signal and makes corrections in the duty cycle accordingly.

DTC will set when the following conditions are present:

BARO reading at 75 kPa or greater.
Lowest achieved EGR pressure at full EGR is less than look up table value (internal to PCM).
MAF value is greater than or equal to 0.1484 g/cyl.
