Gauge Always Indicates Low Pressure (Commercial)

  1. Disconnect engine oil pressure gauge sensor. Turn ignition on. If oil pressure remains low, go to next step. If oil pressure rises, go to step 3).
  2. Backprobe with a test light between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 21 (Tan wire) and voltage. If test light comes on, repair short to ground in Tan wire. If test light does not come on, replace instrument cluster.
  3. Connect an external oil pressure gauge to engine. Start engine. If gauge shows oil pressure, replace engine oil pressure gauge sensor. If gauge shows no or very low oil pressure, diagnose engine problem.
