Gauge Is Inaccurate (Van)
- Turn ignition on. Disconnect fuel gauge sender connector (Purple wire). Connect one Red lead of Gauge Tester (J 33431-B) to fuel gauge sender connector Purple wire. Connect other Red lead to ground. Set gauge tester resistance to zero ohms, then to 90 ohms. If fuel gauge indicates empty, then full, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not indicate empty, then full, go to step 4).
- Connect gauge tester Red leads between fuel gauge sender Purple and Black/White wire. Set gauge tester resistance to zero ohms, then 90 ohms. If gauge indicates empty, then full, replace fuel gauge sender. If fuel gauge does not indicate empty, then full, repair high resistance in Black/White wire.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Connect fused jumper wire between instrument cluster terminal B17 (Pink wire) and voltage. Connect another fused jumper wire between instrument cluster terminal B13 (Black/White wire) and ground. Connect one Red lead of gauge tester to instrument cluster terminal B2 (Purple wire). Connect other lead to ground. Set resistance to zero ohms, then 90 ohms. Observe fuel gauge response.
- If fuel gauge indicates empty, then full, repair high resistance in Purple wire. If fuel gauge does not indicate empty, then full, replace instrument cluster.
