Gauge Is Inaccurate (Motorhome)
- Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit wire. Connect one lead of Gauge Tester (J 33431-B) to Purple wire which goes to fuel gauge sending unit. Connect other test lead to ground. Turn ignition on. Adjust tester resistance dials to zero ohms, then to 90 ohms. Allow time for gauge to respond. If gauge indicates empty, then full, replace fuel gauge sending unit. If fuel gauge does not respond correctly, go to next step.
- Remove gauge tester. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between instrument cluster terminal No. 27 (Pink wire) and voltage. Connect one Red lead of gauge tester to instrument cluster terminal No. 30 (Purple wire) and other Red lead to ground. Set resistance dial to zero ohms, then slowly increase to 90 ohms.
- If fuel gauge reads low at first and slowly moves toward full, repair high resistance in Purple wire. If fuel gauge does not read low at first and does not slowly move toward full, check instrument cluster for an open circuit in printed circuit. If printed circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge.
