Gauge Always Indicates Empty (Van)

  1. Disconnect sending unit. Turn ignition on. If gauge indicates full, replace sending unit. If gauge indicates empty, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Connect self-powered test light between instrument cluster terminal B2 (Purple wire) and ground. If test light does not come on, replace instrument cluster. If test light comes on, repair short to ground in Purple wire.
