Gauge Inaccurate (Van)

  1. Disconnect temperature gauge sending unit connector. Connect one Red lead of Gauge Tester (J 33431-B) to sending unit Dark Green wire. Connect other Red lead to ground. Set tester resistance to 1305 ohms, then 49.5 ohms.
  2. If gauge does not indicate cold, then hot, go to next step. If gauge indicates cold, then hot, replace temperature gauge sending unit.
  3. If gauge indicated significantly below hot at 49.5 ohms, go to next step. If gauge does not indicate significantly below hot at 49.5 ohms, replace instrument cluster.
  4. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Connect ohmmeter between connector terminal B9 (Dark Green wire) and coolant temperature gauge sending unit terminal "A" (Dark Green wire). If resistance is greater than 20 ohms, repair high resistance in Dark Green wire. If resistance is less than 20 ohms, replace instrument cluster.
