Gauge Inaccurate (Motorhome)

  1. Disconnect temperature gauge sending unit connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 20 (Black wire) and ground. Connect one Red lead of Gauge Tester (J 33431-B) to temperature gauge sending unit connector. Connect other Red wire to ground. Turn ignition on. Set tester resistance to 1400 ohms, then 50 ohms.
  2. Temperature gauge should indicate cold, then hot. If gauge responds correctly, replace temperature gauge sending unit. If gauge does not respond as described, disconnect gauge tester. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between instrument cluster terminal No. 27 (Pink wire) and voltage. Connect Red lead of gauge tester to instrument cluster terminal No. 22 (Dark Green wire). Connect other Red lead to ground. Set resistance dial to 1400 ohms, then 50 ohms.
  3. If temperature gauge reads low, then slowly moves toward high, repair high resistance in Dark Green wire. If temperature gauge does not respond correctly, check instrument cluster for an open in printed circuit. If printed circuit is okay, replace temperature gauge.
