Gauge Inaccurate (Commercial)

  1. Disconnect temperature gauge sending unit connector. Connect one Red lead of Gauge Tester (J 33431-B) to sending unit Dark Green wire. Connect other Red lead to ground. Turn ignition on. Set tester resistance to 1400 ohms, then 50 ohms.
  2. Temperature gauge should indicate cold, then hot. If gauge responds correctly, replace temperature sending unit. If gauge does not respond as described, disconnect instrument cluster connector. Measure resistance between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 22 (Dark Green wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair high resistance in Dark Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster.
