VOLTS Light On At All Times With No Loss Of Serial Data

  1. Start engine. Connect Tech 1 scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Enter SDL monitor mode. Monitor communications from PCM to IPC. If VOLTS light is on, see the appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in this section. If VOLTS light is not on, go to next step.
  2. Using Tech 1, check if F-TERMINAL VOLTS reads greater than 5. If volts are not greater than 5 counts, check PCM field input. See the appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in this section (see above).
  3. If volts are greater than 5 counts and engine speed is less than 3000 RPM, replace IPC. If volts are greater than 5 counts and engine speed is less than 3000 RPM, see the appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in this section (see above).
