Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation

Brake Switch Circuit.:

Purpose:
The electrical brake switch is used to inform the PCM of brake pedal status.

The PCM uses this signal to de-energize the TCC solenoid when the brake pedal is applied.

Operation:
The switch is normally closed when the brake pedal is not applied. When the pedal is applied the switch will open, changing the signal to the PCM.

Location:
The brake switch is located on the brake pedal mounting bracket.
