Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

Voltage is applied at all times through Fuse 6 to the Release Switch. When the Release Switch is closed, voltage is applied to the Release Relay.

AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

If the Transaxle Position Switch is in "PARK" or "NEUTRAL," the Release Relay is grounded through the Starter Solenoid. Voltage is applied to the Release Solenoid through the contacts of the Release Relay, releasing the luggage compartment lid lock.

MANUAL TRANSAXLE

With the Park Brake Switch closed, the Release Relay is grounded and voltage is applied to the Release Solenoid through the contacts of the Release Relay, releasing the luggage compartment lid lock.
