Oil Pressure Gauge Accuracy Test

(Beretta, Camaro V8, Cavalier, Corsica & Lumina)

1) Disconnect fuel pump switch/oil pressure sender connector. Connect one Red lead of Gauge Tester (J-33431) to terminal "A" (Tan or Tan/Black wire) of fuel pump switch/oil pressure sender connector and other Red lead to ground.

2) Turn ignition switch to RUN position. On Beretta, Cavalier and Corsica, set resistance dials on tester first to one ohm, then 44 ohms and finally 86 ohms. If oil pressure indicates zero psi, 40 psi, and then 80 psi respectively, replace fuel pump switch/oil pressure sender. If oil pressure shows no change, check Tan or Tan/Black wire for high resistance. If wire is okay, replace IPC.

3) On Camaro V8 and Lumina, set resistance dials on tester to zero ohms (or 43 ohms - Camaro only), then to 90 ohms. Oil pressure gauge should indicate low pressure, then high pressure. If oil pressure gauge shows no change, check Tan wire for high resistance. If wire is okay, replace coolant temperature/oil pressure gauge assembly.
