Fuel Gauge Always Reads Full

(Beretta, Camaro, Cavalier, Corsica & Lumina)

1) Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit. Connect jumper wire between Purple wire of harness half and ground. Turn ignition on.

2) If gauge indicates empty, check wiring between sending unit and dash for open circuit or loose connections at instrument panel. If wiring is okay, replace fuel gauge sending unit.

3) On Lumina, if gauge still indicates full, check Purple wire for open circuit. If Purple wire is okay, replace IPC.

4) On Beretta, Camaro, Caprice, Cavalier and Corsica, if gauge still indicates full, connect jumper wire between Purple wire of harness half and sending unit wire. If gauge reads empty, check ground wire to sending unit for open circuit. If fuel gauge operates correctly with jumper wire installed, replace sending unit.
