Fuel Gauge Always Reads Full (Caprice)
- Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit. Connect a test light between battery voltage and fuel gauge sending unit connector terminal "A" (Black wire). If test light does not illuminate, check for poor connections or open circuit(s).
- If test light illuminates, connect a fused jumper wire between fuel gauge sending unit connector terminal "B" (Purple wire) and ground. If fuel gauge indicates empty, check for poor connections or open circuit(s) at fuel gauge sending unit connector. If wiring and connector are okay, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- If fuel gauge does not indicate empty, check for poor connections at IPC connector terminal No. 15 (Purple wire), fuel gauge-to-fuse connector (Pink/Black wire), fuel gauge sending unit ground, IPC printed circuit, or open circuit in Purple wire.
