Removal & Disassembly

  1. Remove oil pan. See OIL PAN under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. On Corvette, remove oil pan baffle nuts. On all models, remove oil pump retaining bolts, and remove pick-up screen. Remove oil pump and intermediate shaft.
  2. Remove oil pump cover screws, and remove cover. Mark gear teeth for reassembly reference. Remove idler gear, drive gear and shaft. Remove pressure regulator pin, spring and valve from cover. Remove pick-up screen and pipe from cover only if replacing.
