Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Installation

  1. Install front and rear bearings. Position camshaft bearing No. 1 oil holes at 1 o'clock and 5 o'clock positions.
  2. Position oil holes of bearings No. 2-4 at 5 o'clock position toward left side of engine and even with bottom of cylinder bore. Position oil hole of bearing No. 5 at 12 o'clock position.
  3. Install rear camshaft plug flush to .031" (.79 mm) deep in block. Use Sealant (1052080) on camshaft plug. If replacing camshaft, replace lifters, engine oil and filter.
  4. Apply Camshaft Prelube (1052365) to camshaft lobes. Apply engine oil to bearings and camshaft bearing journals. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
