Spring Shackle: Installation

NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis refer to components and procedures identified in illustrations.
  1. Install the shackle (18) to the vehicle. See Figure and Figure .
  2. Install the shackle to spring bolt (14), the washers (13), and the nut (12). Do not tighten the nut at this time.
  3. Install the shackle to rear bracket bolt (17), the nut (15), and the washers (16). Do not tighten the nut at this time.
  4. Adjust the spring height to obtain a measurement of 182 mm (7.17 inches) between the top of the surface and the axle jounce pad and the bottom surface of the frame jounce bracket. See Figure.
  5. Tighten the front (20) and rear (12) spring nuts and the shackle nut (15) to specification. See Figure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
