Leaf Spring: Installation
NOTE:
Numbers in parenthesis refer to components and procedures identified in illustrations.
- Install the spring assembly (24) to the vehicle. See Figure and Figure .
- Install the spring to front bracket bolt (22), the washers (21), and the nut (20). Do not tighten the nut at this time.
- Install the shackle (18) to rear bracket bolt (17), the nut (15), and the washers (16). Do not tighten the nut at this time.
- Install the spacer (11) and NEW U-bolts (10) to the top of the spring.
- Install the anchor plate (9).
- Install the washers (8) and the nuts (7). See Figure and Figure .
- Tighten the nuts (7) in sequence to specification. See Fig 1. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Adjust the spring height to obtain a measurement of 182 mm (7.17 inches) between the top of the surface and the axle jounce pad and the bottom surface of the frame jounce bracket. See Fig 2.
- Tighten the front (20) and the rear (12) spring and shackle nuts (15) to specification. See Figure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
- Lower the vehicle.
