Leaf Spring: Installation

NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis refer to components and procedures identified in illustrations.
  1. Install the spring assembly (24) to the vehicle. See Figure and Figure .
  2. Install the spring to front bracket bolt (22), the washers (21), and the nut (20). Do not tighten the nut at this time.
  3. Install the shackle (18) to rear bracket bolt (17), the nut (15), and the washers (16). Do not tighten the nut at this time.
  4. Install the spacer (11) and NEW U-bolts (10) to the top of the spring.
  5. Install the anchor plate (9).
  6. Install the washers (8) and the nuts (7). See Figure and Figure .
  7. Tighten the nuts (7) in sequence to specification. See Fig 1. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Adjust the spring height to obtain a measurement of 182 mm (7.17 inches) between the top of the surface and the axle jounce pad and the bottom surface of the frame jounce bracket. See Fig 2.
  9. Tighten the front (20) and the rear (12) spring and shackle nuts (15) to specification. See Figure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. 
  10. Lower the vehicle.
