Removal & Installation: Spindle: Removal

- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Remove locking hub. See appropriate LOCKING HUBS in this article. Remove brake caliper from mounting bracket and support aside. DO NOT allow caliper to hang by brake hose.
- Remove hub and rotor assembly. Remove anchor plate and discard retaining nuts. New nuts must be used on reassembly. See Figure . Detach spindle retaining bolts.
- Remove spindle by tapping end of spindle lightly with soft-faced hammer. If necessary, remove seal, spacer, bearing seal and bearing from spindle. Replace spacer, bearing and seals if worn or damaged. DO NOT clamp machined surface of spindle in vise.
