Section 9 (Suspension - Front (4WD) - Leaf Spring): Description
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 1990 GMC Suburban, 1990 GMC Pickup, 1990 GMC Jimmy, 1990 GMC Cab & Chassis, and 1990 Chevrolet Suburban. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Vehicle series numbers in this article list Chevrolet models first followed by GMC models. Example: V10/1500. Chevrolet/GMC equivalent models are: 10 = 1500, 20 = 2500 and 30 = 3500.
Leaf spring assembly attaches to front axle with "U" bolts. At the wheel ends of V10/25 models, steering knuckle is attached with ball joints. The V30/3500 models use kingpin attachments. On V30/3500 models, tapered upper kingpin fits in a tapered nylon bushing. Lower kingpin is part of bearing cap and rides in a tapered roller bearing. See Fig 1 .
