Section 8 (SUSPENSION - FRONT ( C Series 2WD)): Description
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 1990 GMC S15 Pickup, 1990 GMC S15 Jimmy, 1990 GMC Pickup, 1990 GMC Cab & Chassis, and 1990 Chevrolet S10 Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Independent front suspension consists of upper and lower control arms with steering knuckle mounted by ball joints. The upper and lower control arms are mounted with pivot shafts or bolts, through rubber bushings. Coil springs are mounted between lower control arm and a formed seat in suspension crossmember. A stabilizer bar is bracket mounted to frame side rails and connected to lower control arms by link bolts.
The front wheels are held in proper relation to each other by 2 tie rods which are connected to steering arms on the knuckles on one end and an intermediate shaft on the other.
