Section 7 (SUSPENSION - FRONT ( R Series 2WD)): Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 1990 GMC Suburban, 1990 GMC Pickup, 1990 GMC Cab & Chassis, 1990 Chevrolet Suburban, and 1990 Chevrolet Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Independent front suspension consists of upper and lower control arms with steering knuckle mounted between ball joints. Control arms mount on inner shafts. Coil springs are mounted between lower control arm and a formed seat in suspension crossmember. Some models have urethane air cylinders inside the coil springs. Hydraulic or gas-charged shock absorbers fit between lower control arm and frame. A stabilizer bar is mounted to frame side rails and is connected to lower control arms by links.
