Removal & Installation ("P" Series)

Raise vehicle by frame, allowing rear axle to hang free. Clean area around brake line fittings at valve. See Figure. Disconnect brake lines from valve. Remove nut and lever from valve shaft. Remove valve-to-frame bolts and valve.
To install, reverse removal procedure. If installing new valve, adjust the new valve. See HEIGHT-SENSING PROPORTIONING VALVE under ADJUSTMENTS . Bleed brake system. See MANUAL BLEEDING, PRESSURE BLEEDING or VACUUM BLEEDING under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
