System Bleeding
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 35 other vehicles, including the 1992 Pontiac Trans Sport, 1992 Oldsmobile Silhouette, 1992 Oldsmobile Bravada, 1992 GMC Yukon, and 1992 GMC Vandura Special. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Place transmission in Park to set control valve in Park mode. Start engine. Turn steering wheel from stop to stop to bleed power steering system. Place transmission in Neutral.
- Open bleed screw on actuator until fluid flow is free of air, then close bleed screw (bleed screw is near fluid hose connection, on top of actuator). Loosen exhaust line fitting (port EC) at control valve. See Figure. Place transmission in Park. Allow small amount of fluid to bleed from fitting, then tighten fitting.
- Cycle the system. If noisy, repeat bleeding procedure. Check power steering fluid level with transmission in Neutral and parking brake applied manually. Fluid level should be 7.12" (180.9 mm) from top of reservoir.
