Bushing Replacement
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 15 other vehicles, including the 1992 Oldsmobile Bravada, 1992 GMC Yukon, 1992 GMC Suburban, 1992 GMC Sonoma, and 1992 GMC Safari. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove upper control arm from vehicle. See UPPER CONTROL ARM under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Place upper control arm in soft-jawed vise.
- On Astro, "K" Series Blazer & Pickup, Safari, Sierra, Suburban and Yukon, press bushings out of upper control arm. On Bravada, Jimmy, Sonoma, Syclone, Typhoon and "T" Series Blazer & Pickup, press bushings out of upper control arm using Nut (J-21474-18
), Bolt (J-21474-19
), washer, bearing and Control Arm Bushing Service Set (J-33793

.NOTE: On Astro, "K" Series Blazer & Pickup, Safari, Sierra, Suburban and Yukon, alignment angles are preset at factory. Knockouts MUST be removed before installation of alignment adjustment cams using Knockout Removal Tool (J-38794 ).
- To install NEW bushings into upper control arm, on Bravada, Jimmy, Sonoma, Syclone, Typhoon and "T" Series Blazer & Pickup, use Nut (J-21474-18 ), Bolt (J-21474-19 ), washer, bearing and Control Arm Bushing Service Set (J-33793 ). See Fig 1 .
- On Astro, "K" Series Blazer & Pickup, Safari, Sierra, Suburban and Yukon, press NEW bushings into upper control arm. On all models, press in bushings until properly seated in upper control arm.
- Install upper control arm into vehicle. See UPPER CONTROL ARM under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
