Speedometer & Odometer Do Not Operate Properly

Perform the following test(s).

• DRAC Inoperative  : Disconnect DRAC harness connector and turn ignition on (DRAC LOCATIONS table at end of this test). Check voltage between Pink/Black wire in harness connector and ground. If voltage is less than battery voltage, check for open or short in Pink/Black wire.
• Poor Ground Path (Astro, Safari, C, G, & K Series)  : Check voltage between Pink/Black wire and Black/White wire in DRAC harness connector. If voltage is less than battery voltage, check for open or short in Black/White wire.
• Poor Ground Path (S & T Series)  : Check voltage between Light Blue/Black wire and Black wire in DRAC harness connector. If voltage is less than battery voltage, check for open or short in Black wire.
• No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal  : Raise and support vehicle. Connect voltmeter between Yellow wire at pin B13 and Purple wire at pin B16 of the DRAC. Start engine and place transmission in Drive. Check if AC voltage changes with engine RPM. If AC voltage is NOT present, check for open or short in both wires. If both wires are okay, replace VSS (located in transmission tailshaft housing).
• No Speedometer Output (Astro, Safari, C, G, & K Series)  : Raise and support vehicle. Connect voltmeter between Pink/Black wire and Black/White wire at DRAC harness connector. Start engine and place transmission in Drive. Check if AC voltage changes with engine RPM. If AC voltage does not vary with engine RPM, replace DRAC.
• No Speedometer Output (S & T Series)  : Raise and support vehicle. Connect voltmeter between Light Blue/Black wire and Black wire at DRAC harness connector. Start engine and place transmission in Drive. Check if AC voltage changes with engine RPM. If AC voltage does not vary with engine RPM, replace DRAC.
• No Cruise Control Output (Astro, Safari, C, G, & K Series)  : Raise and support vehicle. Connect voltmeter between Yellow wire and Black/White wire at DRAC harness connector. Start engine and place transmission in Drive. Check if AC voltage changes with engine RPM. If AC voltage does not change with engine RPM, replace DRAC.
• No Cruise Control Output (S & T Series)  : Raise and support vehicle. Connect voltmeter between Yellow and Black wires at DRAC harness connector. Start engine and place A/T in Drive. Check if AC voltage changes with engine RPM. If AC voltage does not change with engine RPM, replace DRAC.
