Gauge Reading Is Inoperative

  1. Disconnect fuel gauge sender unit wire and connect Gauge Tester (J-24538-A) between sender wire and ground. Turn ignition on.
  2. If gauge DOES respond, replace sender unit in tank. If gauge DOES NOT respond, disconnect front body wiring harness connector. Connect tester to terminal No. 30 (Pink wire) of firewall connector. If gauge now responds, check wiring between fuel tank and front connector. If gauge does not respond, go to next step.
  3. Remove instrument cluster. Check for bad connections at gauge terminals or instrument cluster connector. Repair connections and reinstall gauge and cluster. If connections are good, replace defective gauge.
