Gauge Stays At Empty Position

Check for fuel in tank. Turn ignition on. Check for a grounded fuel gauge circuit by disconnecting lead at fuel tank. Fuel gauge should now read past FULL mark. If gauge does not read past FULL mark, replace fuel gauge sending unit in tank. If gauge still reads EMPTY, repair short to ground between gauge and fuel tank.
