Cluster Display Does Not Dim With Lights On

  1. Check for open or shorted parking light power circuit, bad parking light switch and for an inoperative cluster. Turn parking lights and ignition on.
  2. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and pin terminal A8 of large 17-pin connector. If voltage reading is less than battery voltage, repair open or short in Brown wire. If voltage reading is okay, go to next step.
  3. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and pin terminal A8 of large 17-pin connector while adjusting panel light dimmer switch from high intensity to low intensity.
  4. DVOM should read between zero and battery voltage. If not, repair Gray wire or replace parking light switch. If no problem was found, replace inoperative instrument cluster.
