Gauge Reads Hot When Engine Is Cold

  1. Turn ignition on. Remove lead connector from temperature gauge sensor. If gauge goes down to 100 (cold), replace externally shorted sending unit.
  2. If temperature gauge continues to read 260, check for short to ground in wiring circuit between sending unit and gauge. If short is NOT found, replace temperature gauge.
