Electronic Instruments (Astro, Safari, C, K, S & T Series)

This instrument cluster is a solid-state device that uses a digital display for speedometer/odometer information and bar graph displays for gauge information. This electronic device receives input signals from the following components and systems.

• English/Metric switch
• Odometer trip/reset switch
• Battery, charging, ignition and lighting systems
• Oil, fuel and temperature sending units
• Digital ratio adapter controller
• Vehicle speed sensor

The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) signal originates at the transmission tone wheel on tailshaft. This AC voltage signal is changed to a digital signal for speedometer by Digital Ratio Adapter Controller (DRAC). The electronic instrument cluster does not contain any serviceable components and is serviced as a complete assembly.
