Gear Box & Motor: Installation
- Install end play adjusting washers on armature. Refer to Figure
. Install washers with concave side of washers toward each other. End play is automatically controlled by proper installation of washers. Install end plate on armature.
- Ensure thrust plug is between armature shaft and end plate. See Figure
. Lubricate armature shaft bushings with light machine oil. Install brush spring tension. Install motor to mounting plate and secure with through bolts.
- Install terminal board and park switch assembly (if removed). Secure terminal board and park switch with screws, nuts and washers supplied in rebuild kit. Solder motor leads to terminals in their original positions.
- Install intermediate gear and pinion assembly on shaft. Lubricate gear teeth with cam lubricant. Install output gear and shaft assembly. Install gear box cover. Place wiper motor in parked position.
- Install crank arm on output shaft. Rotate crank so alignment marks line up with marks on gear case. See Fig 1
. Clamp crank arm in vise and tighten retaining nut. Press washer pump drive cam onto shaft. See Figure
. Install washer motor.
