Hydraulic Valve Lifters: Installation

  1. For priming lifters, submerge lifter in clean kerosene or diesel fuel. Operate plunger several times. Coat roller and bearings with Assembly Lube (1052365).
  2. Install lifters into their original positions. Install lifter guide plate and clamp. Tighten clamp bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Rotate crankshaft 2 full turns while ensuring lifters are not binding against guide plates.
  3. Reverse removal procedure to complete reassembly. Use new gaskets and tighten all bolts to specification. Rocker arm assemblies MUST be installed in proper sequence to prevent piston and valve damage. See ROCKER ARM under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
