Engine Cranks, But Will Not Run

Definition: Engine cranks OK, but does not start. May fire a few times.
POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION

No fuel in tank ^ Put fuel in fuel tank.

Water contaminated fuel ^ Drain fuel tank and add clean fuel. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL TANK DRAINING.

Low fuel pressure ^ Check fuel pressure.
Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS/ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT RUN (CHART A-3).

Pinched or collapsed fuel hose/line ^ Repair/replace as required.

Inoperative fuel pump ^ Verify fuse/fuse link integrity.
^ Check fuel pump relay.
^ Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS/ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT RUN (CHART A-3).

Vapor lock ^ Check fuel line routing
(away from heated, exhaust areas).
^ Check fuel grade.
^ Check (fuel module) Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS/ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT RUN (CHART A-3).
