Turn Signal Switch: Service and Repair

Fig. 1 Lock plate retaining ring removal:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove steering wheel as described under STEERING WHEEL & HORN SOUNDER.
2. Remove instrument panel trim cover if equipped.
3. Remove lock plate by inserting a screwdriver into lock cover slot and prying up and out.
4. Using lock plate compressor tool J-23653-C or equivalent, Fig. 1, compress lock plate and remove retaining ring.
5. Pull multi-function lever straight out from pivot, then disconnect electrical connector.
6. Remove hazard warning knob, then the turn signal mounting screws.
7. Pull switch up and free the connector. Disconnect switch from harness.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
