Camshaft: Service and Repair

Depending on vehicle and engine application, the grille, radiator and condenser (if equipped) must be removed to facilitate camshaft removal.
1. Remove intake manifold as outlined previously.
2. Remove pushrods and valve lifters.
3. Remove timing case cover and timing chain as outlined previously.
4. Install two 5/16 - 18 x 4 inch bolts into camshaft bolt holes, then pull camshaft out of cylinder block.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
