Check valve spring free height. Replace valve spring if free height is less than 1.85" (47.0 mm). Measure valve spring for out-of-square. Painted area of valve spring should be facing downward. Maximum out-of-square is .04" (1.0 mm). Measure valve spring preload at valve spring installed height. Valve spring preload should be 47.4 lbs. (21.5 kg) at 1.57" (39.9 mm).
