Timing Belt & Sprockets: Removal

  1. Remove engine and mount in stand. Remove accessory drive belts and engine mounting bracket from timing cover. Rotate crankshaft to position No. 4 cylinder at TDC on compressor stroke. Align crankshaft pulley with marks on timing cover.
  2. Remove starter and install flywheel holder (J-35271). Remove crankshaft bolt and remove boss and crank pulley. Remove timing cover. Loosen tension pulley fixing bolt.
  3. Insert hex wrench into tension pulley hexagonal hole. Loosen timing belt tension by rotating tension pulley clockwise. Remove timing belt. Remove head cover.
