Removal (Carbureted Engines)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain coolant. Remove alternator adjusting bolt. Disconnect all hoses to air cleaner assembly. Disconnect intake air temperature switch wiring connector. Remove air cleaner assembly. Label and disconnect vacuum hoses to carburetor.
  2. Disconnect by-pass, heater and fuel hoses. Remove fuel vapor hose from charcoal canister. Disconnect electrical connectors to carburetor and EFE heater. Remove throttle cable. Remove carburetor mounting bolts. Remove carburetor and EFE heater.
  3. Disconnect PCV, vacuum advance and EGR 3-way hose. Disconnect A/C wiring. Disconnect coolant temperature sending unit wire. Disconnect ground wires from intake manifold. Remove intake manifold mounting bolts. Remove intake manifold. Check intake manifold for cracks or warpage.
