Piston Pin Replacement

  1. Check piston pin outer diameter at 3 positions along length of pin. Measure pin 90° to the first set of measurements. See Fig 1 . Standard piston pin outer diameter should be .7085-.7088" (17.997-18.005 mm). Minimum piston pin diameter is .7075" (17.970 mm).
  2. Measure inside diameter of connecting rod small end. Piston pin-to-connecting rod clearance should be .000787-.001614" (.020-.041 mm). Measure piston pin-to-piston clearance. Piston pin-to-piston clearance should be .00024-.00043" (.006-.011 mm). Ensure mark on piston head faces front of engine and connecting rod oiling hole is toward intake side of engine.
