Oil Pump: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove timing belt. See TIMING BELT . Raise vehicle and drain oil. Remove flywheel dust cover. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold. Remove oil pan and strainer.
  2. Remove crankshaft timing belt pulley. It may be necessary to lock flywheel to remove pulley bolt. Remove alternator and A/C compressor mounting brackets (if equipped). Remove alternator adjusting bolt and upper timing belt cover bolt. Remove oil pump bolts and oil pump.
