Oil Pressure Display

  1. If the oil pressure display does not read correctly, remove connector with Tan wire from oil pressure sending unit. Clip one lead of Instrument Panel Tester (J-33431) to connector and other lead to ground.
  2. Place ignition switch in run position. Set resistance control on tester to zero ohms. Display should read zero psi. Set resistance control to 45 ohms. Display should read within 40-46 psi (2.8-3.2 kg/cm2 ). Set resistance control to 90 ohms. Display should read within 77-83 psi (5.4-5.8 kg/cm2 ).
  3. If display reads correctly, install a new oil pressure sending unit. If display does not read correctly, disconnect tester and check Tan wire for high resistance. If wiring is good, replace instrument panel.
