Oil Pressure Light - Flickers At Idle

Number: 87-132

Section: 8C

Date: MAY, 1987
Subject: OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FLICKERS AT IDLE

Model and Year: 1987 CAVALIER Z-24 WITH 2.8L V-6 ENGINE
AND DIGITAL CLUSTER

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

On a 1987 Cavalier Z-24 equipped with a 2.8L V-6 engine and digital gages, the oil pressure warning light may flicker at idle, even though the oil pressure gage is operating correctly. These vehicles have both a gage and a warning light.

An oil pressure sender with a high trigger point and a warning light with a low trigger point may cause a flicker at low oil pressure (idle), even though the oil pressure is within specifications.

To repair this condition, install a new oil pressure sender, P/N 10068576.

Use existing labor operations.
