Lower Ball Joint: Installation

Start new ball joint in control arm bore, then install ball joint remover and installer set. See Fig 1 . Ensure bleed vent in rubber boot is positioned facing forward.

Fig 1: Removing & Installing Lower Ball Joint Turn hex head screw on clamp until ball joint is either removed from or seated in control arm bore.
Turn hex head screw on clamp until ball joint is seated in control arm. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Install new cotter pin, tightening nut as necessary to align stud hole. Install grease fitting and lubricate new ball joint with chassis lubricant equal to GM-6031-M Chassis Grease (1051344).
